Thursday, August 9, 2018 to Sunday, August 12, 2018
Thursday 9th August - Sunday 12th August are competition days with registration on the evening of Wednesday 8th August.
Entry is on a first come, first paid basis. Registration alone will not guarantee your place. If any round is oversubscribed a waiting list system will be used. Payment for the Peaks round should be received by 30th June 2018. No entries will be taken at registration, all entries must be made through the website.
Camping will be on site at the Gliding Club for caravans, campers and tents but there is no electric hook-up. Camping fees are £5.00 per person per night (children £2.50) and payable at registration. Due to space constraints we are unable to offer camping for anyone other than competing pilots and their partners/families or BP Cup staff. Facilities at the club are good with showers, a bar and an excellent canteen for breakfast, sandwiches and evening meals, so no need to cook if you don't want to. We also make full use of the free wifi and lecture room. On days when conditions are too strong for tasks but fine for gliders we are able to take advantage of the kind offer of member's rates for those pilots who would like a glider flight.
The Gliding Club also have some basic but comfortable accommodation in one and two bedded rooms at very reasonable rates. Please contact the club direct if you are interested - email: firstname.lastname@example.org or office phone: 01298 871270.
We will not provided a minibus but will use the successful self-retrieve system from 2017 asking pilots to double up in vehicles with comp funds contributing towards fuel costs. For retrieves of any distance, the comp funds will contribute towards taxi, bus and train fares but pilots are expected to negotiate fares with taxi drivers and fill taxis to capacity where at all possible.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ABOUT ACCESS TO THE GLIDING CLUB:
The road from the hairpin on the Great Hucklow side up to the club has now re-opened. When visiting the club from the South and West you are able to travel up directly from Eyam and Great Hucklow. There’s no need to go via the Plough at Hathersage. If Google Maps or your satnav tries to send you via the Plough just ignore them.
